The Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress has deliberated draft amendments to how Hong Kong's leaders will be selected. Lawrence Ma, chairman of Hong Kong Legal Exchange Foundation, shares with us his insights. He says that number of members in the election committee increased from 1,200 to 1,500 and that expansion of nominating committee will allow non-voter voices to be heard. He also says that the electoral system has not given enough attention to the grassroots, and improvements to the system will allow those unrepresented to be represented.
