Chinese mainland reports 16 new COVID-19 cases

The Chinese mainland recorded 16 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, 10 from overseas and six domestic cases in southwest China's Yunnan Province, data from the National Health Commission (NHC) showed on Thursday.

No new deaths related to COVID-19 were reported, the NHC said.

Forty-two new asymptomatic cases were recorded the same day, of which 23 are from Yunnan Province, and 288 asymptomatic patients are under medical observation.

This brought the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Chinese mainland to 90,217, with the death toll unchanged at 4,636.

The total number of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and the Taiwan region are as follows:

Hong Kong: 11,467 (11,095 recoveries, 205 deaths)

Macao: 48 (48 recoveries)

Taiwan: 1,030 (981 recoveries, 10 deaths)
