How will Hong Kong's electoral system changes affect local elections?
China's top legislative body, the NPC Standing Committee, has voted unanimously to improve Hong Kong's electoral system. The amendments to the Basic Law Annexes introduce a number of changes, including how the city's Election Committee, Legislative Council and chief executive are selected. How will the changes affect key local elections scheduled to take place over the next 12 months? And will they help Hong Kong regain its prosperity and stability?
To discuss these questions and more, we've invited Lawrence Ma, Barrister and Chairman of the Hong Kong Legal Exchange Foundation; Huo Zhengxin, Professor of Law from China University of Political Science and Law; and Edward Lehman, Managing Director of Lehman Lee & Xu.
