A total of 112 inmates and staff members at a prison in south Thailand's Narathiwat Province tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday, local media reported citing health officials.

The media outlet said among the confirmed, 88 are inmates, 23 are staff members and one is a nurse.

The prison, accommodating 2,334 prisoners with 97 staff members, was screening for the possible source of the outbreak while those with severe symptoms were sent to a nearby hospital.
