A recent human rights report by the U.S. State Department claimed the Chinese government was carrying out what it called "genocide and crimes against humanity" in Xinjiang. The report's alleged discrimination in employment, cultural marginalization and religious repression provoked resentment among the local ethnic Uygur population. To understand these claims, CGTN's Feng Yilei visited a night market in one of the cities referenced in the report.
