CGTN Nature's filming crew recently captured footages of an extremely rare green peafowl in southwest China's Yunnan Province.

The crew found a green peafowl in Yunnan's Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture.

The green peafowl is under first-class state protection in China. Its only habitat in China is Yunnan. There are less than 500 fowls inhabiting this area.

According to monitoring data between 2014 and 2020, there are 230 green peafowls in Chuxiong's Shuangbai County.
