M6.0 earthquake hits off east coast of North Island in New Zealand

A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck the eastern coast of North Island in New Zealand at 7:37 GMT on Monday, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said.

The epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 10 km, according to USGS. No tsunami warning has been reported so far. 

The European Mediterranean Seismological Center recorded the magnitude at 5.8.
