China issued a white paper on April 6 on its success in eradicating extreme poverty for the first time in its history. The paper describes how 770 million people were helped out of deep poverty over the past 40 years, contributing to more than 70 percent of the world's poverty reduction target. Meanwhile, it means China has reached the UN development goal for poverty eradication 10 years ahead of the 2030 deadline.
