China is firmly opposed to any country, organization or individual shielding criminals in any form, and urges them to stop interfering in China's internal affairs, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian said on Thursday.
Zhao made the remarks in response to a question about Nathan Law Kwun-chung, the criminal suspect wanted by Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) police, who said he has been granted so-called political asylum in Britain.
It would be a gross interference in HKSAR's administration of justice and violates international law and basic norms governing international relations if the UK openly supports "Hong Kong independence" activists and provides so-called asylum to wanted criminals, Zhao said.
