Despite being a holiday destination with sprawling beaches, 5-star resorts and plenty of other leisure activities, marine and environmental protection are also defining features of Sanya. Over the past several years, Hainan Province has welcomed a growing number of visitors and has garnered the reputation of being a tourist hub. Yet, the island’s marine ecosystem has remained a key focus.
Scuba diving is one of many water activities that tourists can enjoy off the coast of Sanya. Marine biologists are also using it to study coral reefs, carry out coral propagation, protection, and further scientific studies.
In this Tides of Change Livestream, CGTN reporter Li Jingjing and American vlogger Matt Galat take the deep plunge alongside a team of marine biologists to witness their fascinating work under the sea. Join us to learn more about their work and for some stunning underwater footage!
