The Tropical Marine Biological Research Station under the Chinese Academy of Sciences was built in 1979 in Sanya City, south China's Hainan Province. It has a national living coral reef germ plasm bank, also known as the laboratory of coral reef ecological simulation. It is home to over 100 kinds of corals and rescued marine lives.
