The Chinese mainland recorded nine new COVID-19 cases on Monday, one from southwest China's Yunnan Province and eight from overseas, data from the National Health Commission (NHC) showed on Tuesday.

No additional deaths related to COVID-19 were reported on Monday, the NHC said.

Eighteen new asymptomatic cases were recorded the same day, while 299 asymptomatic patients are under medical observation.

This brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Chinese mainland to 90,435, with the death toll unchanged at 4,636.

The total number of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and the Taiwan region are as follows:

Hong Kong: 11,594 (11,214 recoveries, 207 deaths)

Macao: 49 (48 recoveries)

Taiwan: 1,058 (1026 recoveries, 11 deaths)
