Rescuers began drilling holes on Tuesday while accelerating discharging the water of a flooded coal mine in northwest China. 

Eight people have been rescued and 21 still trapped underground after a coal mine was flooded in Hutubi County of Hui Autonomous Prefecture of Changji, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Saturday.
