Russia will lodge representations with Japan over the government's decision to discharge radioactive water from the Fukushima nuclear plant into the Pacific Ocean, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said on Wednesday. 

Russia will call on Japan to inform the countries concerned of the situation, including future measures to minimize harm to the region and ecological environment.

Zakharova pointed out that Russia is also a relevant country since Japan's actions will affect the sea and border areas where Russian citizens live.
