China has responded to a proposed bill by the U.S. Senate that aims to counter China's global influence and allocate over $1 billion to strengthen U.S. influence. China's Commerce Ministry Spokesperson Gao Feng said the global industrial supply chain has the attributes of a public product, and maintaining its security is in the interest of China, the U.S. and the rest of the world. China has repeatedly opposed the bill and called for U.S. senators to do more to help a stable development of bilateral ties. Gao Feng made those remarks in response to a question raised by a journalist from the Phoenix Media during a regular press conference Thursday.
