First driverless rail transit system in SW China begins operation

SW China's Chongqing put into operation its first driverless BYD SkyShuttle rail transit system on Friday. The fully automatic electric trains run on a 15.4-kilometer elevated rail line with 15 stations. The SkyShuttle can transport 6,000 to 10,000 people per hour and can reach a maximum speed of 80 km per hour.
