India reported a record 234,692 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, health ministry data showed on Saturday, taking the national tally to over 14.52 million.

It was the eighth record daily increase in the last nine days.

The country's deaths from COVID-19 rose by 1,341 to reach a total of 175,649, the data showed.
