The government of China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) announced Sunday night it will ban flights for two weeks from India, Pakistan and Philippines starting Tuesday, in a move to curb the spread of the N501Y COVID-19 variant.

The three countries would be classified as "extremely high risk" after there had been multiple imported cases carrying the strain into Hong Kong in the past 14 days, the government said.
