President Xi Jinping on Tuesday announced that China will host the second edition of the Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations (CDAC) as part of the country's efforts to promote dialogue among countries and cultures on the continent and beyond.
The second CDAC will be held after the coronavirus situation is brought under tighter control, Xi said in a video speech at the opening plenary of the Boao Forum for Asia annual conference in Boao, south China's Hainan Province.
The inaugural CDAC was held in Beijing in May 2019. During the week-long event, China and other Asian countries agreed on cooperation projects in various areas from cultural heritage conservation to translation of classic literature and film and TV productions.
The participants also signed multilateral and bilateral cooperation documents in such areas as support for young scholars, cooperation among think tanks and development of culinary cultures.
Several reports were published during the event, including on Asia's role in global governance, awareness of Asian civilizations and tourism cooperation.
The focus of the 2019 CDAC was on the exchanges and mutual learning among Asian civilizations and building a community with a shared future for mankind.
The CDAC is billed as a platform to build a consensus for developing Asia, stimulate the vitality of innovation in Asia, and provide support for building a community with a shared future for Asia and mankind.
