The Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture in southwest China's Sichuan Province covers 60,400 square kilometers. It is the source of Yi culture and also full of diverse landscapes and other remarkable scenery. However, the prefecture's residents have had to endure the shadow of poverty that has hung over the area due to harsh conditions and poor infrastructure.

Xide County is located in north central Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture. The county was once classified as a national-level poverty-stricken county. In November 2020, the Sichuan provincial government announced that the seven remaining impoverished counties in the prefecture, including Xide County, had removed their "hats of poverty" after five painstaking years of targeted poverty alleviation work.
