Han Jeoung-ae, South Korea’s Minister of Environment, spoke about South Korea’s commitment and efforts on achieving carbon neutrality at the CGTN “Dialogue with Thinkers: Path to Carbon Neutrality” Boao TV forum. She said the country’s national greenhouse gas emissions peaked in 2018 and have been in decline since. Moving forward, South Korea will pursue a transition to a power generation system based on renewables, develop green taxonomy, promote environmentally responsible investment, and prepare a circular economy model which encompasses the whole product life-cycle from production to resource recovery to recycling.
