April 22 marks the annual Earth Day. Since 1970, when the first Earth Day was celebrated, the special day has been focusing on global environment protection. This year's theme is "Restore Our Earth."
Today, our planet is facing more threats than ever. It is losing 4.7 million hectares of forests every year – an area larger than Denmark. And around 1 million animal and plant species are now threatened with extinction. Resulting in extreme weathers, pandemics, wildfires and toxic sea water, man-made changes to nature are disrupting our environment and biodiversity.
On this special day, be alert of the damage we have done to our Mother Earth, and join in the actions to restore our Earth.
