Just in case some don't realize, this year's World Book Day is right around the corner.

In China, bookstores aren't just about selling novels – they're also a space for people to come together and read. So the question is, why would you go to a bookstore nowadays?

Most people may be used to going to a theater or cafe to watch plays or performances. Other than selling books related to theater, movies and poetry, this bookstore is always ready to switch into a stage.

"As you can see, the bookshelves and charts here are all equipped with wheels," said the bookstore owner Li Suwan. "Just so you can push and move them around."

In fact, within the first 500 days after opening in 2018, the bookstore held around 274 such cultural events, including film screening, poetry workshop and even a mini live concert – and still counting.

Fun fact is, artists are often only full of inspiration when the nighttime begins, that's why Suwan used the element of the moon and starry night as the store's logo.

The colors of yellow and blue are also visually emphasized in the bookstore. The giant blue bookshelf for one, is filled with books related to art, philosophy, foreign literature and movies.

The small physical bookstore has achieved big potential, and more possibilities with various forms of art are expected in the future.
