India shatters global daily record with over 340,000 COVID-19 cases

India reported the world's highest daily tally of coronavirus cases for the third day on Saturday with over 340,000 new cases, as it struggles with a health system in crisis including oxygen shortage.

Deaths in the past 24 hours also jumped to a record 2,624, the health ministry data showed.
