The International Olympic Committee (IOC) this week announced a new event, the Olympic Virtual Series (OVS), which will be held before the Tokyo Olympics. Judging by its name and the fact that two video games, eBaseball Powerful Pro Baseball 2020 and Gran Turismo, will be part of the competition, it's only natural to connect the OVS with eSports.

Thomas Bach, president of the IOC, has said more than once that he does not support eSports being added to the Olympics, at least not now. Is the OVS a sign that things are changing? Will it lead to the beginning of historic changes of both the Olympics and eSports?
