India's New Delhi on Sunday extended its ongoing lockdown to another week as the country's COVID-19 crisis grew with infections and deaths hitting record highs.

The restrictions imposed last week in the Indian capital will continue till May 3.

India's COVID-19 tally reached 16,960,172 on Sunday with 349,691 new cases recorded in the past 24 hours. This is the fourth consecutive day when over 300,000 daily cases were registered in the country.
