Assume you are a gifted kid in basketball from high school and there are three options in front of you: going to an American university, joining the NBA G League, or playing overseas in Europe, Australia or other countries, which would you choose?
Many inside and outside the U.S. go with college basketball, which is the traditional way. Some decide to go overseas, which has been a bit unorthodox. Moreover, the NBA last year created a G League team, Ignite, to compete against universities for the best talent, with several top prospects picking that road.
Eighteen-year-old Chinese forward Zeng Fanbo decided to join Ignite as well. Is he making the right call? What's so different between going to college versus joining a professional team?
