China firmly opposes the imposition, or the threat of unilateral sanctions, by the United States on other countries, a Foreign Ministry spokesperson said Monday, stating that acts of bullying are facing growing boycotts and opposition.

Wang Wenbin made the remarks at a daily news briefing in response to a query on the sanctions imposed on Russia by the U.S. and other European countries.

Wang said that China has always advocated that countries should properly resolve their differences through equal consultation on the basis of mutual respect.

Wang pointed out that the COVID-19 pandemic continues to be severe and the international community should unite to overcome the difficulties, jointly deal with challenges and threats to contribute to the early recovery of the global economy and promote international peace and security.

He added that China and Russia will continue to understand and support each other in safeguarding national sovereignty, security and development interests.
