Massive sandstorms recently swept across many areas of Alxa Right Banner, north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The sand wall stretched for hundreds of meters and enveloped the buildings in many cities, turning the sky an apocalyptic yellow and deteriorating the air quality. 

The local meteorological authority issued a yellow alert for sandstorms. They also advised the public to take precautions against heavy winds and sandstorms, and suggested that drivers prepare for poor visibility.
