The number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines passed the milestone of 1 million on Monday as infections continued to surge in the country.
The Southeast Asian country registered 8,929 new COVID-19 infections on Monday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 1,006,428, according to the health ministry.
It was just over three months after the Philippines, with a population of around 109 million people, surpassed half million COVID-19 cases on January 17.
