The Hanging Monastery, also known as the "Mid-Air Temple," is located in the city of Datong in north China's Shanxi Province. The temple was built more than 1,500 years ago. Its structure has been kept in place with oak crossbeams fitted into holes chiseled into the cliffs. Stretching past a stunning cliff, the gravity-defying architecture is an engineering marvel and wonder of the world.
