China condemns frequent activities of U.S. warships and aircraft near China
01:09

The frequent activities of U.S. warships and aircraft in waters and airspace near China are leading to the militarization of the region and threatening peace and stability, the Chinese Ministry of Defense said on Thursday.

In April, the USS McCain, a guided-missile destroyer, crossed the Taiwan Strait, and the Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group entered the South China Sea. Recently, the U.S. navy even released photos on its website of China's aircraft carrier Liaoning taken at close range. American sailors also tweeted videos of planes taking off and landing on Liaoning. Speaking at a regular press briefing, Wu Qian, spokesperson for the defense ministry, condemned such activities.
