Strong winds and hail battered east China's Nantong City, near Shanghai, on the evening of April 30. At the peak of the storm, wind speeds reached 160 kph. The extreme weather toppled trees, cut power supplies and forced the evacuation of 3,000 people. As a result, nine people are still missing after a ship capsized. Rescue operations are underway.
