Sevilla conceded a 90th-minute goal to Athletic Bilbao in La Liga and lost 1-0 on Monday, which basically ended their hopes of a championship title this season.
Only six points short of league leaders Athletic Madrid, fourth-placed Sevilla could have closed the gap with the top three clubs in Spain had they claimed three points. However, that dream was crushed when Inaki Williams lifted the ball into the top corner after a pass from Oihan Sancet in a counter attack.
Sevilla will have to beat Real Madrid next weekend to reignite their hopes, before finishing the season at home to Valencia, away at Villarreal and at home to Alaves.
In Germany, struggling Hertha Berlin returned to action after a two-week coronavirus quarantine with a 1-1 draw at in-form Mainz 05 in the Bundesliga as they battle to avoid relegation.
