Farmers in Congjiang County of southwest China's Guizhou Province have filled their rice terrace fields with water for the upcoming spring farming season.

Guizhou's Jiabang Rice Terraces are known for their large concentration of this special farmland, which stretches over 40 square kilometers. For centuries, the ethnic Miao people have cultivated rice in reclaimed paddies on the mountain slopes. Over 92 percent of Guizhou's landscape is mountains.
