Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday sent a congratulatory message to the first China International Consumer Products Expo.
The event, scheduled for May 7-10 in the city of Haikou, Hainan Province, will see the participation of nearly 1,500 Chinese and foreign enterprises from around 70 countries and regions.
Xi said the expo offers a global consumer goods trading platform, which is conducive to the sharing of opportunities in the Chinese market by countries around the world, to the recovery and growth of world economy, and to the provision of more high-quality consumer goods made by China to the world.
Xi expressed his hope that guests from all countries and people from all walks of life can deepen exchanges and seek cooperation to better benefit people across the world.
China is willing to amplify the Hainan free trade port's advantages by comprehensively deepening reforms and experimenting with the highest-level of opening-up policy to deepen bilateral, multilateral and regional cooperation, while working together with all parties to create a better future for mankind, Xi stressed.
The event will be the first international expo to be held in Hainan since China released a master plan last June to build the island province into a globally influential and high-level free trade port by the middle of the century.
