In Yaogu Village in Libo County, southwest China's Guizhou Province, the villagers of the Bouyei ethnic group make their own dye from a plant called Strobilanthes cusia. 

Strobilanthes cusia, which is distributed in Guangdong, Hainan, Yunnan, Guizhou and other provinces in China, can often be found in moist places. Its indigo dye is used to dye clothes.

Tie-dye is one of the traditional Chinese hand dyeing techniques with a long history. The tie-dye process is divided into two parts: binding and dyeing. By means of yarn, thread, rope and other tools, the fabric is tied, sewed, tied, stitched, and then dyed.
