Manchester United have to say goodbye to a training kit deal worth 200 million pounds (about $279.5 million) for 10 years from Manchester-based company The Hut Group (THG), according to the Observer.

Neither United nor THG commented on the news.

Richard Arnold, the team's group managing director, was informed on Friday of THG's decision of pulling out of the contract. The deal was announced by United in late March and was supposed to take effect from July 1. A Cheshire firm owned by THG, Myprotein, failed to replace AON to appear on United's training kit.

THG made this decision over concerns for United's fans' campaign to boycott the club's commercial partners as part of their protest against the Glazers, who own the Red Devils.

The Observer revealed that an anonymous fans group of United created a hashtag "NOTAPENNYMORE" on social media platforms and launched an online campaign to boycott commercial partners of the team. Adidas, Cadbury and, of course, TAG Heuer, are all their targets. The group even wrote an open letter to these companies.

Moreover, a large number of United supporters gathered outside Old Trafford to protest against Glazers ownership on May 2. As a result, the key Premier League game between United and Liverpool was postponed to May 13. The campaign, the open letter and the postponement showed the power of certain United fans to THG. In order to remove its local business in Greater Manchester off the target list of disaffected fans, THG decided to end the deal.

Fans' anger is mostly about United's decision of joining the other 11 heavyweight clubs to launch a European Super League. Though the Red Devils quit ESL in less than 48 hours together with the other five English clubs and accepted UEFA's punishments, many fans are not ready to forgive the club, especially the Glazers.

Meanwhile, AON's contract with United is coming due on June 30, so the team better find new training kit sponsor soon.
