The New York Knicks defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 106-100 at Staples Center on Sunday, ending the team's two-straight-loss trend and solidifying their No. 4 ranking in the Eastern Conference.

Julius Randle made the last two valuable jumpers for the Knicks to ensure their victory, but Derrick Rose was the biggest hero for the team on Sunday night. The former NBA MVP scored a team-high 25 points plus six rebounds and eight assists at 64.7 percent on the field off the bench.

The last bench player who got 25+5+5 at 60+percent field goal rate was Nate Robinson in 2010.

In all the time Rose has appeared on the floor for the Knicks this season, the team outscored their opponents by 206 points, the highest margin of any player on the team. The 32-year-old continues to get better as postseason is approaching. He has averaged 21 points and 4.9 assists in May.

The Knicks, as one of the biggest surprises this season, will need Rose's experience in the playoffs, which they have missed for eight years.

Other games on Sunday (away teams come first):

Before Sunday's game, the Heat and the Celtics were No. 6 and No. 7 respectively in the East and the Heat were only leading by one game. That meant both sides should have been desperate to win this one at TD Garden.

Nonetheless, the Celtics allowed 79 points by the Heat in the first half, trailing 26 points. Though Evan Fournier and Jayson Tatum exerted themselves in the second half, trying to catch up. The trail was too big to beat and Jimmy Butler refused to give up the victory that the Heat already placed in their pocket.

Now the Heat lead the Celtics by two games. The two teams will meet again on Tuesday.

Anthony Davis reminded the purple and gold that they are still the NBA defending champions by putting down 32 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, three steals, three blocks and 15 (out of 17) free throws for the team against the Suns at home on Sunday night.

The last Laker who had 40+10+5+3+3 was Shaquille O'Neal in 2001.

In addition to LeBron James and Dennis Schroder, the Lakers had to watch Kyle Kuzma and Markieff Morris sit on Sunday’s game. They have never been so barren offensively and that's why they needed Davis to stand out and be their go-to-guy.

Fairly speaking, Davis was not doing his favorite work in Sunday's game. He was 1-5 from downtown and 7-17 in jumpers. The only reliable way for him to score was to charge into the paint and, either scored two easy points or earned free throws. In the least minute, he finished a 2+1 play via an alley-oop, sealing the win for his team.

Davis' defensive contributions might be even more significant to the Lakers. Stats showed the three blocks and steals he got, but did show how many times he participated in switch and help defense as we as how he magically covered huge defensive space while still being able to protect the rim and rebounds.

In the second quarter, Davis delivered a chase-down block against Jae Crowder in fast break. In the post-game interview, Davis said that block made him feel like he's getting back to form, according to Lakers reporter Ryan Ward.

James was scheduled to return for the Lakers in their game against the Knicks on Tuesday. "What I saw from LeBron today, he'll be fine. Trust me. He'll be fine," said Davis to Mike Trudell of Spectrum SportsNet.

Despite the win, the Lakers are still No. 7 in the Western Conference, trailing the Portland Trail Blazers by one game. Both have four games to go and the Trail Blazers only need another two wins to seal the No. 6 ranking.
