China's sales of new energy vehicles (NEVs) jumped 180 percent year on year in April, with 206,000 units sold, according to industry data on Wednesday.

The NEVs include battery-powered electric vehicles, plug-in petrol-electric hybrids and hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles. Last year, the government extend its subsidies for NEVs to the end of 2022.

The total reached 2.25 million vehicles in April, rising 8.6 percent compared to the same period last year, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.

The world's biggest car market has recovered from the pandemic in the fastest pace around the world as sales have maintained 13 consecutive months of gains.
