CGTN

China will enhance anti-monopoly and anti-unfair competition justice to maintain fair competition in the market, the head of the country's Supreme Court said in a symposium on Wednesday.

The country will strengthen the anti-monopoly justice for internet platforms and ensure the sustainable and healthy development of the platform economy, said Zhou Qiang, president and chief justice of the Supreme People's Court.

It will promote fair and orderly competition to effectively stimulate the vitality of market players, he said.

Zhou noted the court will properly handle disputes in this area amid the development of the platform economy, encourage competitors to innovate and ensure that consumers can share development dividends.

It is necessary to strictly stop monopolistic behavior in accordance with the law, give full play to the role of adjudication, and strive to create a market-oriented, legalized, and internationalized business environment, according to Zhou.

Zhou admitted that the digital economy brought new challenges to anti-monopoly adjudication, and the country has to continue to improve its abilities in this area.
