Elephant statues in London to raise awareness of wildlife protection
CGTN

If you spot a herd of elephants in front of Buckingham Palace in London, don't be surprised. They are not real elephants, but life-size statues.

The 100 statues were created by the Elephant Family conservation group as part of their "CoExistence" campaign to highlight the effect of human encroachment on wild spaces and the need to protect the Asian elephant from extinction.

Each model is made from weeds. Visitors are allowed to walk among the herd to experience the elephant world.

The Elephant Family is an international NGO based in the UK dedicated to the protection of the endangered Asian elephants. According to its official website, the artwork "reminds us of the awe we feel when in the company of wild, free animals and inspires us to better share our world with them."
