Eurasian hoopoe feeds chicks in a tree
CGTN

A Eurasian hoopoe parent was seen busy looking for worms for its two chicks in Beijing's Changping District.

Despite its distinctive crown of feathers, the Eurasian hoopoe is a common bird species in Europe and Asia. It eats a lot of insects, including those that are considered pests by humans. As such, it is very welcomed by farmers and under protection in many countries. It's the national bird of Israel.

In China, the hoopoe symbolizes peace and happiness, and many ancient Chinese poems were written in praise of the bird.
