What's the end game for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict?
02:15

As the Israeli-Palestinian conflict enters its sixth day, tensions show no signs of abating.

Middle East analyst Meir Javedanfar weighed in on the conflict in an interview with CGTN's Dialogue Weekend show. He said although it is uncertain whether the conflict is inadvertent or on purpose, there's a lot of suspicion that Israel and Hamas attacked each other for their own political interests.

"The end game for both Israel and Hamas is trying to come out of this current fighting with a stronger hand for their own domestic audiences," he said.

Javedanfar also said he thinks U.S. President Joe Biden would not get much involved in this conflict. "He's got bigger things. He's got bigger fish to fry in the United States," he said, adding that America has shale oil, so the Middle East is not as important for the U.S. as before.
