The United Nations Security Council is calling for a ceasefire between Palestine and Israel, as it held its first public meeting since the recent escalation in violence. During the meeting, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi put forward a four-point proposal on the current crisis. Wang urged both sides to end violence as soon as possible and pointed out that Israel must exercise restraint in particular.
