Yingkou City in northeast China's Liaoning Province has initiated a level 3 emergency response after a resurgence of sporadic COVID-19 cases, and has barred residents living in medium-risk areas from leaving the city.

Those in other parts of Yingkou who need to travel out of the city will have to present a negative nucleic acid test result received within 72 hours, city officials said.

The authorities have also ordered nucleic acid tests to cover all the residents in other areas of the city following the second round of tests launched in Bayuquan District on Sunday.

As of 7 p.m. on Monday, Liaoning Province has reported four new locally transmitted cases, with two from Yingkou and the capital city Shenyang respectively. Fourteen confirmed patients and 11 asymptomatic patients are receiving treatment at hospitals.
