China continues to support India in pandemic fight

China has continued to assist and support India as the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in India Tuesday morning rose to 25,228,996, with a related death toll of 278,719 across the country, India's federal health ministry said.

Zha Liyou, China's consul general in Kolkata, noted China's latest anti-epidemic assistance to India on Twitter.

"Another chartered flight from Wuhan, central China to Kolkata, India with Indian-purchased medical supplies took off just now and will arrive tonight," Zha tweeted on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Indian Institute of Governance and Leadership expressed gratitude for China's support via Twitter. The director of the institute tweeted "Thank you" in Chinese and said India treasures China's support.

Anti-epidemic supplies, including 100 oxygen concentrators and 40 ventilators donated by the Red Cross Society of China, arrived in India on May 9.

Since April, China has supplied more than 5,000 ventilators, 21,569 oxygen generators, over 21.48 million masks and around 3,800 tonnes of medicine to India, according to statistics from the General Administration of Customs of China.

As far as it goes, China is providing most oxygen concentrators to India and keeps producing these and other medical equipment for its neighbor, Chinese Ambassador to India Sun Weidong said in May 4 tweet.
