The Chinese mainland recorded 12 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, 11 from overseas and one from northeast China's Liaoning Province, data from the National Health Commission (NHC) showed on Thursday.  

No deaths linked to the virus were logged on the day, the NHC said.

Sixteen new asymptomatic cases were recorded, with 350 asymptomatic patients under medical observation.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Chinese mainland stands at 90,920, with the death toll standing at 4,636.

The total number of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and the Taiwan region is as follows:

Hong Kong: 11,827 (11,539 recoveries, 210 deaths)

Macao: 50 (49 recoveries)

Taiwan: 2,533 (1,133 recoveries, 14 deaths)
