David Beckham has been confirmed as a Premier League Hall of Fame inductee, the league announced on Thursday.

The former England captain played for Manchester United, Real Madrid and Major League Soccer (MLS) club Los Angeles Galaxy.

"Renowned for his set pieces – he still holds the Premier League record for most goals from free-kicks – Beckham was arguably United's outstanding performer during the legendary Treble campaign," a statement on the Manchester United official website said, noting the former No. 7 midfielder is the third Red, after Eric Cantona and Roy Keane, to receive the honor.

Beckham, who also won two MLS titles with Los Angeles Galaxy in the United States, is now the owner of Inter Miami CF.

Inter Miami CF had their first MLS game on March 1, 2020. It ended in a 1-0 loss to Los Angeles FC.

Beckham also headlined the finalists for election to the U.S. Soccer Hall of Fame when the 20-name Player Ballot list was released in February. The induction ceremony is set for May 22.
