Beijing is calling for dialogue after the European Parliament voted to freeze talks on a major investment deal. According to a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson, the country has always been sincere in its desire to promote cooperation and hopes that the EU will work with China in the same direction. The EU says talks will be on hold until Beijing lifts sanctions on some European officials, diplomats and academics.
